Longboat Key at want last has a date with Publix.
The town’s Planning and Zoning Board will under consideration the completed site plan and application for a redeveloped Publix and Avenue of the Flowers Shopping Center.
The borough is recommending approval of the plan after months of negotiating and working with the applicant to enlargement buffering and configure parking and other issues optimally.
Town Planner Steve Schield authored the pike report and wrote, “During the last few months, the applicant met several times with shillelagh regarding the proposed redevelopment, to review both technical and aesthetics aspects of the obligation and application materials. In an effort to address both staff and public concerns raised during this epoch, the applicant made a number of changes to the plans including the elimination of 36 parking spaces, adding a encyclopedic pedestrian and bicycle circulation plan, enhancing and increasing the landscaped areas and tree canopy, preserving a platoon of additional existing trees, greatly enhancing the vegetative buffers around the area, improving the architectural treatment of the buildings and providing a larger esplanade in front of the Publix store.
